7 8 A report at Third Age repeats the research showing that green tea is an effective weight loss tool. In one study, men who were given a green tea extract with meals equal to about six to eight cups of green tea burned about 80 calories more than those who took just the caffeine or a placebo. In other news, a researcher has announced that taking a ginseng capsule before meals steps up the metabolism and helps burn off some of the calories. The catch is, he says, that it's only effective if taken exactly 40 to 45 minutes before beginning to eat; otherwise it doesn't work. Note that ginseng is a powerful herb and is not for everyone. Do your research or ask your doctor. Now, it we took ginseng supplement before a meal, green tea extract with it and took a short walk afterwards, mightn't we be able to enjoy more food and keep our weight down, too? Maybe.
