Kids love hot dogs-- not just the taste, but the way they fit neatly into the hand and mouth.   Maybe you want to cut back on fats, nitrates and other hot dog ingredients, or perhaps there's leftover buns and no franks.  Here's an alternative: it's not hot dogs, but....  they've probably tried peanut butter and banana sandwiches, right?  If you think that's an odd food, remember that it was one of Elvis Presley's favorite foods (of course, he fried them!).   Here's a different version of this comfort food.

Split a banana lengthwise (or leave it whole for big kids with very big mouths and matching appetites).   Lay banana half on the peanut butter.  "Dress" with marmalade or jam, as if adding mustard or ketchup, and top with the rest of the bun.  Enjoy!
