Mold and Mildew Season It's springtime, and "the chirds are burping", as that famous quote goes, attributed by many to the Rev. Spooner, although memory tells me it was an embarrassed Washington, D.C. radio commentator. Springtime heralds not only the arrival of birds, flowers, Easter bunnies, and warmer weather, but also mold and mildew time. Whether caused by condensation, drippy pipes, or a leaking roof or window, water not only causes physical damage, but can also provide a perfect breeding ground for dangerous mold or mildew. Mold and mildew are fungi; they grow and spread by sending off microscopic spores, that start new colonies on damp surfaces, and can also invade your lungs and sinuses, causing illness and discomfort, even life-threatening for sensitive individuals. it's vitally important to treat and prevent breeding spots without delay. These fungi can trigger allergies and asthma, sinus problems and even in some cases blood infections. A study by the University of Chicago finds that children exposed to molds and mildew are more likely to develop other allergies as they grow older. Here's some hints: web tool |
