Lentil Beef or Turkey Chili

12 oz/340 g lean ground beef or turkey
2 tsp/10 mL Watkins Onion Liquid Spice
2 cups/500 mL chopped onion
1 red or orange bell pepper, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
8 oz/227 g lentils
2 cans (28 oz/794 g each) crushed tomatoes
2 cups/500 mL water
3 Tbsp/45 mL Watkins Chili Seasoning
1-1/2 Tbsp/25 mL Watkins Beef Soup Base
2 tsp/10 mL Watkins Oregano
2 tsp/10 mL Watkins Basil
1 tsp/5 mL Watkins Black Pepper, more if desired
Parmesan Cheese

Heat a heavy 3-quart/liter saucepan over medium-high heat.  Add ground beef and cook until beef is browned; remove to a colander and drain well.  Heat Liquid Spice in same saucepan; add onion and peppers; sauté until onion is tender.  Add beef and all of remaining ingredients except cheese.  Cover and simmer until lentils are tender, stirring occasionally, about 1-1/2 hours.  Serve hot with a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese.  Makes 8 servings.
